The rural region of Western Mecklenburg is located in north-eastern Germany at the very south-west of the Baltic Sea in between the metropolitan areas of Hamburg and Berlin. The Planning Region Western Mecklenburg is formed by the federal state capital Schwerin, the hanseatic City of Wismar and the counties of Ludwigslust, Parchim and Northwestern-Mecklenburg. Read more

Implementation cases

The Project Partners in Western Mecklenburg are concentrating on the Implementation Cases Transport - Efficient and climate friendly public transportation system in a rural area with declining population and Agriculture – Analyzing challenges (e.g. water-management) and chances (e.g. new species) of climate change. Achievements so far

The diverse activities in Western Mecklenburg are highlighted by the founded regional network of climate change experts, the monthly e-newsletter KLIMABLICK, a scientific study on “risks and chances of climate change”, a political declaration on climate change and various events e.g. two regional climate summits.
